JB One is an operations app for gold and silver jewellery retailers, used by shop staff to print jewellery tags and prepare customer estimates. It also has a web catalogue that each shop can publish, described in section 10. This policy explains what information JB One handles, why, and the choices available to you. JB One is set up by a jewellery shop's owner for their own staff.
Information we collect
- Staff account details. A username and password for each staff member in the app (the web back office uses a mobile number and password, see section 10), set up by the shop's administrator to control who can access which part of the app. Accounts are configured by the shop, not self-registered by staff.
- Business data entered by staff. Jewellery item details (metal purity, description, weight, the Hallmark Unique ID) used to print tags, and customer estimate figures (weight, rate, charges) used to print or share a receipt. This is operational business data, not personal data about staff beyond their login username.
- Photos staff choose to upload. If staff use Shop Login to add a product photo, the photo they pick or take is sent to the shop's own catalogue website.
- Shop configuration. Metal purity lists, tax rules, and printer/label settings chosen by the shop owner, stored in a configuration file the owner controls in their own Google Drive.
We do not collect precise or coarse location, contacts, microphone audio, call logs, or SMS content, and the app does not read your camera or photos in the background.
How permissions are used
| Permission | Why the app asks for it |
|---|---|
Bluetooth | To find and print to the shop's thermal label or receipt printer over Bluetooth. |
Location | Required by Android itself before any app can scan for nearby Bluetooth devices, on phone software older than Android 12. JB One does not read, store, or transmit your location. |
Storage / files | To import a spreadsheet of items for bulk tag printing, to choose a logo image for a label, and to save exported PDFs on older Android versions. |
Internet | To fetch the day's gold/silver market rate, sync the shop's shared configuration, and, for the administrator only, sign in to Google Drive. |
The app does not ask for the camera or microphone permission. If staff choose to take a photo for a product in Shop Login, Android opens its own camera or photo picker for that one photo.
How we use information
Solely to operate the features described above: printing tags and receipts, calculating estimates, keeping shop-wide settings in sync across devices, and showing the day's metal rate. We do not use any information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of individual users.
Third-party services
- Google Sign-In & Google Drive are used only by the shop's administrator, to store and retrieve the shop's shared configuration file. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy.
- Google Play provides in-app updates and the in-app review prompt. Google's handling of that is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy.
- The shop's own catalogue website is opened inside the app for Shop Login and Public Page. What you do on that website is handled by the shop that runs it (see section 10).
- A public gold/silver rate page is read to show the day's market rate; no personal information is included in that request.
JB One does not contain advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell or rent information to third parties. The only Google services it uses are the ones listed above.
Data storage & retention
Business data entered on a device (item lists, estimates, saved label designs) is stored locally on that device and used to drive printing. Your login session is stored locally on the device and is removed automatically when the app is uninstalled. The shared shop configuration lives in the administrator's own Google Drive for as long as the shop chooses to keep it there.
Data sharing
We do not share information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. Information leaves a device only when a staff member deliberately connects to a printer and sends a print job, deliberately shares a receipt (for example, over WhatsApp or as a PDF), when staff upload a product photo to the shop's catalogue website, or when the administrator saves shop configuration to their own Google Drive.
Children's privacy
JB One is a business tool for retail staff and is not directed at, marketed to, or knowingly used by children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant minimum age where you live).
Your choices
Because JB One is deployed by a shop for its own staff, requests about a staff account (adding, changing, or removing one) are usually handled directly by that shop's administrator. To ask about data related to your own use of the app, or to request that information be corrected or deleted, contact us using the details below.
Data kept on your device (saved label designs, item lists, your login session) can be removed at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.
Email us at the address below with the subject line "Data Deletion Request", and include the shop name and your username or registered mobile number. This covers staff accounts and, for the online catalogue, customer accounts and enquiries. We will confirm and process the request. Some records, such as orders, may need to be kept where the shop has a legal or accounting duty to keep them.
Security
We use encrypted network connections and a signed application package to protect information handled by the app. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
JB One Web (the online catalogue)
Each shop can publish an online catalogue on its own web address, with an admin back office for the shop's staff. This section covers that web catalogue.
- Visitors. Browsing needs no account. A wishlist and enquiry list, where the shop has switched them on, are saved in the visitor's own browser on their device. The shop's dashboard counts how often each product is viewed or added to a wishlist, without identifying the visitor.
- Enquiries. An enquiry opens a WhatsApp message in the visitor's own WhatsApp, addressed to the shop's number. The message is between the visitor and the shop.
- Customer accounts. Only if a shop switches on online purchase, a customer can register with a name, mobile number, password and delivery address, and place orders. That information is visible to that shop and is kept for as long as the shop keeps its catalogue, unless you ask for it to be deleted (see section 8).
- Shop staff. Staff sign in with a mobile number and password set by the shop owner. Product details and photos they add are stored on the web server that hosts the catalogue, which is run on web hosting arranged for the shop.
- Ring-size tool. The optional ring-size measure asks your browser for camera access. The camera picture is processed in your browser, on your own device, and is not uploaded by JB One. To work, the tool downloads its detection library and model from jsDelivr and Google's storage servers, so those services can see that request and your IP address.
- Fonts and rates. The catalogue pages load typefaces from Google Fonts and read a public gold and silver rate page. Like any web request, these reach those services with your IP address, but no other personal information is included.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
